Gold - Basemetal Property Acquired In Burchell Lake Area, Thunder Bay, Ontario
January 22, 2003
Maple Minerals Inc. (“Maple”) is pleased to announce that it has staked a 210 claim unit property covering a 8 km section of the Knife Lake Fault and adjoining favourable volcanics. The property will be joint ventured with East West Resource Corporation where East West will earn a 50% interest by completing a geologicalprospecting program and compilation of previous geophysical surveys. Numerous untested airborne EM conductors occur on the property as well as major shear zones that are the controlling structures for gold mineralization in the area. The property is located 115 km west of Thunder Bay with gravel road access from Hwy 11. The North Coldstream Cu-Au mine adjoins the north west corner of the property where a resource of 5 million tonnes of .15 ounces gold have been reported (mndm files). The property also covers the south west extension of the Vanguard Au-basemetal property of Canadian Golden Dragon and is 17 km northeast of a new gold discovery in pyritic volcanics where Freewest has reported up to 2.3 ounces gold per tonne. Other Cu and Au showings occur on the property which will be evaluated as part of an exploration program.
Maple Minerals Corp. is a Toronto based resource company whose common shares are quoted on the Canadian Venture Exchange (CDNX) under the symbol “YMP”.
