New Drill Targets Located By Deep EM Survey On Hamlin-Powell-Clay, Thunder Bay, Ontario
February 26, 2004 – Maple Minerals Corp. (MPM-TSXV) and East West Resource Corporation (EWR-TSXV) are pleased to announce that a detailed helicopter borne EM Survey using a new larger size loop has been flown over the Hamlin and Powell properties in the hebandowan greenstone belt 120 km west of Thunder Bay, Ontario. This survey was done to trace shear structures that control gold mineralization and detect massive sulphide VMS Cu-Zn-Au-Ag zones that may occur along a favourable contact that extends 10 Km across the two properties. A number of new conductors were located near a series of copper showings on the Hamlin part of the survey that will be followed up by drilling. Other discrete conductors were located on the Powell claims that may reflect VMS massive sulphides.
Important gold showings along the north boundary of the property with assays 14 gm Au/.5m and as high as 27.7 grams gold over 1 m are found associated with the shears which now have been extended by the survey. Assays on the Powell claims include a 7 m wide shear with .5 gm – 6.23 grams gold/tonne. Shear zone systems associated with this Powell showing have been traced by the airborne survey. A parallel shear has yielded 16.4 gm, 7.2 gm, 5.8 gm, 4.8 gm and 13.7 gm over .5 m widths (middle shear zone) and 22.45 gm, 3.27 gm, 1.72 gm and 27.7 gm over 1 m widths on the west shear zone (mndm files). Some of these shear structures appear to be extensions of the Ardeen Mine where 1,082,939 tonnes of 14.4 gm gold occurs (mndm files). The shears are also parallel to shears extending south from the La Rose gold showing where assays up to 10 ounces have been recently reported by Freewest Resources. Some shears that were mapped last summer on Hamlin are extensions from the Moss Lake (Snodgrass) deposit where 65 million tonnes of 1 gram has been outlined (mndm files).
