Shebandowan Properties To Be Drilled during Summer 2004 Gold and Base Metal Targets
TORONTO, ONTARIO, June 21, 2004 – Maple Minerals Corp. ("Maple") (TSXV:MPM) and East West Resources Inc. (“East West”) (TSXV: EWR) are pleased to announce that the follow-up mapping, prospecting and drilling is commencing on the Deaty, Hamlin, Powell, Clay and Burchell properties to test several helicopter borne EM targets that have been previously outlined. Structures that control goldmineralization as well as discrete massive sulphide targets have been categorized based on earlier reconnaissance mapping, and on this basis several drill sites have been selected. A first phase of 10 – 12 drill holes totaling approximately 2000 metres are planned to test the targets on Burchell, Deaty, Hamlin and Powell. IP surveys to trace the extent of showings on Clay, Powell and Hamlin will be done simultaneously, to prepare for a second round of drilling.
The Burchell, Deaty and Hamlin properties cover several Cu sulphide showings in the vicinity of the EM conductors and an important stratigraphic horizon associated with base metal-gold silver deposits in the belt passes through these properties.
Major shear structures extend from the Moss Lake gold deposit and the Ardeen Mine onto the Powell and Clay claim groups. Assays of 6 grams gold per tonne occur in a surface showing on Powell, and other grab samples up to 21 grams gold per tonne have been found along the claim boundary. A copper showing containing grab samples up to 5% Cu have been found on Powell near EM conductors. A narrow quartz structure situated in a regional shear on the Clay property has an historical gold showing of 9 ounces gold per ton, showing that these regional shear zones can contain significant gold grades.
Maple and East West have also recently acquired the large (Obadawin) claim group covering the northeast extension of a gold discovery held by Freewest Resources where assays exceeding 10 ounces gold per ton have been found in northeast trending shear zones. Regional prospecting is planned.
The project is being supervised by R. Middleton, P. Eng, who is the qualified person under the rules of policy NI43-101 and is responsible for the verification and quality assurance of these exploration data and analytical results.
