Drilling Commences On Hamlin Cu + Au Targets

  • Several new untested massive sulphide targets to be drilled

  • Regional shears associated with gold zones outlined

TORONTO, ONTARIO, August 10, 2004 – Maple Minerals Corp. ("Maple") (TSXV:MPM) and East West Resource Corporation (“East West”) (TSXV: EWR) have announced that several drill targets have been selected for drilling which were located by a deep penetrating time domain helicopter EM survey flown over the property in February 2004. Detailed mapping and prospecting has been on going since June and this work has assisted in prioritizing the targets. A number of discrete EM 150 – 400 m long conductors, possibly reflecting massive sulphides were found to be hosted in altered rhyolite and basalt volcanics. Nearby, Chlorite alteration zones and breccias suggest hydrothermal vents that would be a favourable setting for VMS style mineralization.

Mapping and geophysics has also traced several gold bearing zones which extend south westward from the Ardeen Mine area and Moss Lake gold deposit. Trenches on the north boundary of Hamlin have yielded numerous gold values of 2 to 21 grams gold from grab samples from mineralized shear zones. This style of mineralization may reflect a Hemlo style shear-gold setting and is therefore similar to the Thomson Bousquet gold camp east of Noranda.

Drilling will continue in August followed by a later follow up phase once assays are received.
