Drilling Underway at Both Hamlin and Deaty Properties, Shebandowan Camp, Thunder Bay, Ontario

January 16, 2006
  • Drilling at Hamlin recommenced on the 14th of January
  • Deaty Winter drilling started on the 12th of January
  • A third Shebandowan drill has now been arranged for additional targets
  • Additional Copper-Molybdenum showings found during December drill site preparation

Toronto, Ontario, Canada, January 16, 2006 – Maple Minerals, a division of Mega Uranium Ltd. (“Mega”) (MGA-TSX-V) and East West Resource Corporation (TSX-V: EWR) wish to confirm that two drills are operating respectively on the Hamlin and Deaty properties, Shebandowan Camp west of Thunder Bay, Ontario.

The Hamlin program consists of up to 10 holes which will be drilled to test breccia hosted Copper-Silver-Gold-Molybdenum zones that have been outlined by ground IP and magnetic surveys. Two “VMS” volcanogenic massive sulphide targets will also be tested as part of this phase of drilling.

Diamond drilling on the Deaty property will test IP chargeability anomalies associated with Gold occurrences in breccia. This zone is 7 km north east of the first Copper-Gold breccia hosted zone in Hamlin. A minimum of 14 holes will be drilled in Deaty to test 12 different IP-magnetic anomalies, several of which have known Copper-Molybdenum (chalopyrite-molybdenite) occurrences associated with pinkish-red coloured alteration and magnetite discovered while preparing the drill sites. Completion of this phase of diamond drilling is expected to take 6 weeks with core being logged and split continuously.

This Deaty drill campaign is the group’s first opportunity to test a number of priority geophysical targets associated with newly exposed mineralization. These have been found by ground teams over the last 8 months and like Hamlin include recent showings uncovered as part of the December drill site preparation work.

A third drill has been arranged for the Shebandowan program, which is expected to arrive later in January.

Assays will be announced as they become available.

Maple Minerals, a division of Mega Uranium Ltd (TSX-V: MGA), and East West Resource Corporation each hold a 50% interest in both the Hamlin and Deaty properties.

The project set out above is being supervised by R. Middleton, P.Eng. who is the Qualified Person and the person responsible for quality control of the assaying and reporting. More details are available on SEDAR at
